Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.
STS #225
Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are bought, borrowed, won or ARCs I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:
Thank you, Hachette Children’s Group UK, Sourcebooks FIRE, Albert Whitman & Company, and NetGalley!
Thank you, JA Huss and Jonathan McClain!
The Sunday Post #195 – Weekend Wrap-up
Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
This week was spent mostly in my own company, and, of course, Hercules and Freddy. It was so nice! I didn’t get a lot of things done, apart from reading and watching Hawaii 5-0, but that was just kind of perfect, and what I needed.
I did go to IKEA on Thursday to get a tall, narrow BILLY book case as my reading nook was very full. And now, it looks like this :
I have a few shelves still free for books, thankfully. And most of the books on the two larger book cases are signed, from different conventions I’ve been to. I need to stop buying books for a while now, though, especially as I’m going to BookExpo in May.

Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
Oh wow Ignite the Stars looks nice. Actually so does the Heart forger- amazing cover! But then I liked the previous one too. And I love your shelves- very nice! Looks like a pretty good reading area. 🙂
Have a great weekend!!
That cover is, indeed, awesome, Greg 🙂 I can’t wait to start reading it.
There are so many fabulous looking books here, Lexxie! I’m pleased that you’be got your hands on Simon Vs… One of my favourite books for sure. Have a fab weekend!
I’ve already read Simon, and I loved it! I just found all the characters to be so very realistic, and the storyline was heartbreaking.
Lots of great books! especially the Amy Harmon. Love your nook and shelves. Of course the pups are such cuties. Have a great week!
I hope I’ll have time to read the Amy Harmon book before next weekend, as I’ll meet her then 🙂
Great haul this week; Ignite the Stars looks interesting. I love your reading nook, looks very cozy 🙂
Your puppies always make me smile. Hope you have a great weekend!
My STT
I’m glad my puppies make you smile, Bogdana, they make me smile, too 🙂
Oh my god, The Heart Forger, Lexxie! I wantz it so badly! 😀
I hope you’ll be able to get your hands on it, too, Stephanie 🙂
Love seeing your dogs and your bookcases look great. Sounds like you had a good week. Hope you enjoy your book haul.
I had one of the best staycations ever, Angela 🙂
aww thoses wieners !! the all black ones are so gorgeous to me, I rarely see any ! Usually there’s the same amount of tan as mines does – minus the dapples patches, of course. and oh goodness the good looking shelves !!!! I so want the same x) However, my room is too small for something like that ..
eeeeek !!! Thank you soo much for including my post in your wrap up <3
Freddy does have some tiny bronze patches, and he sure is a cutie 🙂
My pleasure sharing your post, Kristina 🙂
You library looks amazing! I wish I could keep all my books and just add more bookshelves, but with how often we move, it’s just not feasible. 🙁
We have lived here for over ten years now, and I really needed to have my books handy. I love watching them 😀
Glad your quiet week went well and you had a good time with the puppies and getting the new piece to better organize your book area.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Lexxie!
Thanks, Sophia 🙂 It was a fantastic week! And now, the children are back home, and that’s really nice, too 🙂
I have serious bookshelf envy looking at your reading nook! It’s beautiful!!! And I love that you got Cait’s ARC!!! I can’t wait to hear what you think of it!
I loved Cait’s book so much, Michelle! It was so well done, a bit dark, and there were lots of cakes 😉
I got A Thousand Perfect Notes too! I’m hoping I love it, I’d feel guilty leaving a bad review of a fellow blogger’s book. I use to have my billy bookcases in the same order as yours but I had to leave them behind when we moved. 🙁
Vee @ Under The Mountain
I was nervous about that for exactly ten seconds… Then, when I started reading, I was completely grabbed by the characters, the story and the whole music angle.
Soak up the sun puppers!
I have the Billy shelves too. I bought them after my first BEA and I ended up with boxes of books on the floor everywhere lol
Have a great weekend Lexxie!
Karen @ For What It’s Worth
Yeah, it was after my first BEA I needed more shelves, too. But it’s such a good ‘problem’ to have, right?
Oh, I love that reading nook! I have some bookcases that I like, but they are scattered throughout the house…sigh.
Enjoy those books and those puppies!
Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I used to have my books in different places, too. And in a way, I still do. These shelves are my books for pleasure. And I have a shelf in my office, too, where I have books I will use more often for my teaching. And there is some overlap 🙂
I love your new book space! My book nook is overflowing and messy! I wish I had been approved for The Heart Forger, but I was not. I will have to wait for it to come out. Have a wonderful week.
Yeah, I have to be careful now to not add too many books, though. Because there is nowhere else in the house I can add more shelves…
Oh, that’s too bad about the Heart Forger, Ardis.
I can’t believe how much bigger Herc is than Freddy! And I LOVED Brooklynaire! Nate and Becca are life! Hope you hav a great week!
I know! It’s really amazing how Hercules has grown. He’s both taller and longer, which makes it a bit difficult for Freddy to completely maintain his alpha status 😉
Oh, A Thousand Perfect Notes has such a great cover!
I miss going to IKEA and your reading nook looks perfect, I hope I will get the chance to have such a bookish corner in my life. Your dogs are adorable, as always!
I agree, the cover is really beautiful.
I was pretty proud of myself when I went to IKEA, because I only bought that shelf. So often, I’ll go there for one thing, and come home with my car full…
I know! That always happens to me too!
It’s almost impossible not to succomb to the IKEA temptations 😉
I love your book nook! I can’t wait for Love, Simon (although I wish they would have kept the book title). I recently reread Simon V. and think I liked it more on my second look. Happy reading!
Yeah, the original title is so accurate to what Jaques and Blue are talking about… I really hope the movie will be a good one!
You got Simon Vs! I love that book and can’t wait for the movie. Your reading nook looks really nice. Have a great week!
I loved it, too, Aj, it was so good. I hope the movie will live up to the novel!

I am so jealous of your bookshelves and all the signed books, of course. They really look great! And of course I always love you dog pictures. Time to yourself is important occasionally. Hope you have a great week coming up!
I love those shelves. And I admit to going a little book-crazy when I go to events where I can get the authors to sign and personalize my books to me 🙂
Your new book case looks awesome! I wish I had more space for books, haha. Maybe when I’ll move… Have a great weekend, Lexxie!
Ronnie @ Paradise Found
Even with these shelves, I still wish I had more room for books, Ronnie 😀
Twitter: avalinahsbooks
Ooh, you’ve got Cait’s book! I don’t know if I’ll ever be requesting, it’s a bit weird to read a book by someone I talk to quite often 😀 so I’ve decided not to… but I’m really curious about whether you’ll like it 🙂
Cait’s book was amazing, Evelina! I loved everything about it. It’s beautifully written, of course, and a bit dark 🙂 And there was lots of cake 😉
Hi Lexxie, your arcs look beautiful and they all match in colour. I’ve been wanting to read a Kristen Ashley book. Maybe this 1001 dark nights novella would be a good place to start.
Your shelves are stacking up nicely. It’s nice to get some alone time once in awhile. Have a great week!
You could definitely read the KA novella without having read anything else. And it’s a good place to start a new reading obsession;)
Twitter: ailynk
Hercules is growing up to be a handsome dog! good thing you still have some space then. Maybe auction some of it off hehehe. I know you won’t but just a lousy suggestion
I know, right?
Hahaha, auction off my signed books? *shakes head* that was funny, Ailyn :p
I’m glad you had a really relaxing week – though it wasn’t quite as relaxing as all that, given that you had all those books to rehome in your fabulous new shelving unit! I hope the coming week isn’t too full-on once you get back to school, Lexxie:)
That actually was relaxing, because I didn’t have to do it, I just felt like it 🙂 And I felt so accomplished once I had put the shelf together and filled it with books 🙂
Quiet weeks shared with books and dogs are wonderful. Glad you got to experience that! And yay for more bookshelves! Nice reading corner you have there.
The Heart Forger looks suitably creepy and interesting!
Yeah, I love my bookshelves. I used to have mostly kindle books until I started going to book conventions… Now, I just love how pretty my shelves are 🙂
Twitter: limabean74
So jealous of your quiet time. 🙂 I am planning to visit you when you are at BEA. I am thinking I wont be able to go to the event but will come to the city to visit you. Possibly on the Saturday for Lunch! 🙂
I LOVE Hawaii Five-O. Very nice to look at…I mean watch the show is nice to watch. 😉
Hercules name suits him since he is so much bigger than Freddy. They are just so cute!
Have a great week my wonderful friend! I really do miss you a whole bunch! Happy Reading! ox
LOL! Hawaii 5-0 is also definitely very nice to look at 😉
Lunch on the Saturday during BookExpo would be perfect, Michelle! I can’t wait to see you again <3

Sounds like you had a really great week. It is nice to have weeks where you can read and spend some time just snuggling with puppies. I hope you have a great week this week too.
I really needed a quiet week, Melanie, it was so nice to just relax and not have any plans!
Oh my gosh, I love IKEA and your new bookcase looks amazing.Enjoy your books, the puppies are too cute!
Thank you! IKEA is the best. They could basically come to my house to take pictures for their catalog 😀
So many great books to cozy up with, Lexxie. Sounds like a very relaxing week for you. Those two pups look like are planning something in both plotting something in both pictures. I wonder what they are thinking. LOL
LOL, they’re always plotting! They are so funny – and sometimes, if Hercules is being naughty and I see that, Freddy will reign him in 😀
I’m culling down my bookshelves. And, of course, my books, too.
https://readerbuzz.blogspot.com/2018/02/the-cybils-winners-single-book-reading.html
I’m doing the exact opposite, and I just love having those shelves – it’s a piece of me in the living room now. I love being surrounded by pretty books 🙂
Your week sounds heavenly, quiet and just doing some reading and watching Hawaii 5-O. I need a bookcase, it’s actually the only that has stopped me from buying books at the moment. I’m totally out of room…it’s fine I just turn to something else and buy that instead haha.
Hope you have another great week 🙂
LOL Chloe! I really need to stop going to signings! Before I did, I had mostly kindle books, but now, I’m really happy to have my corner all set up here 🙂
Wow, you had a busy week. Love all the new purchases! The dogs are adorable. They are always eating something they are not supposed to! =)
Mary #SundayRoundup
Thanks Mary 🙂
What a great group of new books! Your fur-babies are so adorable! Have a great week!!!
I agree! I love all the new books I got 🙂
Your dogs definitely keep you busy. I hope you love all of your new goodies.
Grace @ Books of Love
They sure do, but that’s the good kind of busy 😉
I love your bookcases!!
Thanks Jennifer, I do, too 😉
Enjoy your ARcs! They seem really good ones. And I love the leash on your fur babies 😉 I only have one. Happy Sunday!
I will, Sophie!
We only had one fur-baby, and then, last summer I was contacted to get another puppy, and it was impossible to say anything but yes 😀
There they are again, the cute pups! 🙂
So I’ve been eyeing Simon vs the Homosapien Agenda – really curious what you’ll think. I really want to get that one.
I loved Rough Rider and Brooklynaire and also bought Amy Harmon.
I hope you enjoy your ARCs!
This week has been crazy busy so I didn’t even get around setting up a week wrap up post 🙁 Sounds like your week was a lot more quiet!
I loved Simon vs, and I also enjoyed both Brooklynaire and Rough Ride… I had so much time to read last week, and I definitely took advantage of that!
I love the looks of your new books Lexxie. And your shelves look amazing. I think it’s so cool that you have so many signed books.
Freddy and Hercules just look so cute.
Have a great week and happy reading!
Thanks Maureen 🙂
It was when I went to my first convention and got some signed books that I started my physical bookshelves. Before that, I had mostly kindle books. Now, though, I’m really happy with the look of those shelves, it’s so cozy, and so me.
Love your reading nook!! And I’m quite envious you have a copy of Cait’s book—hopefully an ARC in some form is headed to the US soon! Hope you have a wonderful week 🙂
I hope the ARCs for Cait’s book will find their way to the US, too! It was SO good!
I’m currently reading The Lucky One and it is pretty good. There’s tension from the mystery and sexy times!
I love the way your bookshelves turned out! Looks very nice!
Your dogs are cute, and look like the perfect companions. Enjoy your week and happy reading! 🙂
I’m so happy you’re enjoying The Lucky Ones! I’m such a huge fan of Tiffany Reisz! Her writing is gorgeous 🙂 Even when her stories are dark.
Oh so many great books Lexxie! I’ve been trying to cut down on a lot of my own books too, I actually sorted through quite a lot over the weekend, and its nice when you can finally see all your books on your shelves. Your shelves are gorgeous by the way! I hope you have a great week! 🙂
I love those shelves so much! And sharing books with the school library is something that gives me a lot of pleasure. I hope students will see that there are new books, and that they’ll pick them up and enjoy, too 🙂
I also got Ignite the Stars and it sounds like it’s going to be a good one. I need to get some shelves but I haven’t decided where in my house I want them. Your puppies are so cute, I posted pics on my babies this week, too. I hope you have a great week.
It took a while for me to persuade Mr. Lex and the children that I should have a book corner in the living room 😀 Now, they think it looks nice, than goodness!
I hope we’ll both enjoy Ignite the Stars, Cricket!
Your shelves look great and I love the cover of The Heart Forger. The pups really look like they were caught in the act in the backyard. Mine have that look too.
I can’t wait to get started on The Heart Forger! I wasn’t completely wow’ed by The Bone Witch, but I still really want to know what will happen 🙂
I’m happy you enjoyed a quiet week of reading and tv watching, wifey. I’m sorry I missed out on chatting with you though. My week was so far from easy or quiet. Ugh! Hopefully this week will be a bit calmer. For me. I’m not sure your week could be more calm. LOL Looks like you had a good reading/book haul week as well. We’ll have to schedule a time to buddy read The Smallest Part. Actually, we need to schedule quite a few buddy reads…
Alright, have a great week!! Miss you and love you!!! {{{BIG HUGS}}}
ha! I don’t think I’ve had such a calm week since long before I had kids! It was so nice, and I really needed a break 🙂
Sorry your week was far from calm, wifey. Hopefully, this week is better.
I miss you!! {{{BIG hugs and love }}}
Wow! You got Cait’s new book! I hope you enjoy it! And I love your new bookshelf!
Cait’s book was awesomesauce, Ronyell! I can’t wait for everyone to read it 🙂
I LOVE your reading nook! That’s kind of what I want mine to look like…one day. LOL
I’m glad you’ve enjoyed your break. And go you for getting out of pajamas at least one day! During our Christmas break, I think the only day I did that was when I went to visit family….the more I stay home, the more homeless I tend to look.
I’m sure you’ll get there one day with your reading nook, Charlie. We’ve lived here for over ten years, and I only got shelves installed a little over a year ago 🙂
LOL, staying home has that effect on me, too 🙂
Your reading nook is awesome! We just set up a wall of bookshelves but it full already so I think it is nice that you still have some room on yours. I see you grabbed the new Sarina Bowen novel. I just read one of her books for the first time last week and LOVED it. Have a great week!
Yeah, but I think I’ll fill it up fairly quickly 🙂 It’s what it’s for though, right?
I’m glad you enjoyed your first Sarina Bowen book! I think I’ve read most of her back list since last summer, and I am in love with both her writing and her characters!
Yay for getting Simon Vs. Can’t wait to see your review! Aw, your dogs are too cute. Sounds like you had a really nice, relaxing week. I got quite a bit of reading finished so I’m happy about that. 🙂
It was SO good! I’m so glad I finally picked it up 🙂
Is it possible to stop buying books? Not sure I could do it. LOL. I am enjoying the Chicago Rebel series (on the second book) and wondered who the next story would feature. Now I know! Yay. Have a great week.
No, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to stop buying books, Nise’, however, I can try to get back to mostly kindle books, though. Because there really isn’t room for more shelves anywhere else here.
I’ve never head for Sarina Bowen before and now I’m seeing Brooklyaire EVERYWHERE! I have to check out that series STAT – everyone is raving about that book! Glad you got to enjoy some quiet time with the pups! 🙂 Happy reading and hope you enjoy your expanded book nook!
Oh yeah, you should definitely check out that series, Mallory! She’s awesome 🙂
Trying to fit in reading in amongst winter olympic events and household chores is proving difficult! That’s the kind of weekend I’m having!
LOL Chuckles 🙂 I actually haven’t watched the Olympics at all…
Lexxie it seems like you had a nice little alone time. Love your book cases.
Alone time was awesome, JoLee!
A Thousand Perfect Notes sounds like a really good read.
I love the Ikea Billy shelves. I have them. Your reading nook looks fabulous!
Have a good week!
It was so good, Chrissy! I absolutely loved every word 🙂
Awesome! Definitely adding it to my TBR!
Love your book shelves!
Those two definitely have a rather mischievous look on their faces.
Thank you Xyra! Yes, they also ARE rather mischievous 😉
Oh, my dad and you would get on so well! He loves Hawaii Five-O as well. But yay for reading time. You must be really happy to have a review copy of A Thousand Perfect Notes as well 😀 I want to read that one too!
My recent post: http://oliviascatastrophe.com/2018/02/5-mini-movie-reviews/
Your dad and I are probably fairly close in age, Olivia 😉
Have you tried to request A Thousand Perfect Notes on NetGalley UK? That’s where I got it from 🙂 And it was such a good story!
Cait’s cover is so beautiful! I think it’s great you got an ARC! 🙂
I love IKEA so much. I go often to the one here in Massachusetts. Your reading nook is beautiful Lex! BookExpo!. Yay!
