Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.
STS #221
Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are bought, borrowed, won or ARCs I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:
Thank you St. Martin’s Paperback, Thomas Nelson, BooksGoSocial, Simon & Schuster, and Netgalley.
Thank you, Barclay Publicity!
I also got Three Breaths (The Game of Life #3) and Four Hearts (The Game of Life #4) by Belle Brooke – neither has a cover yet.
Iron Gold is one of my most anticipated releases, and so, I’m not sure if I want to read it straight away, or have it waiting for me 🙂
I can’t wait to read Man Card! Man Hands had me laughing so hard at the end of last year!
I managed after much workarounds to get my hands on the first seven Iron Druid Chronicles audiobooks with Luke Daniels as the narrator.
Thank you for the gorgeous presents, my lovely blogger-wife. Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee gave me the above books for Christmas – and I only got them last week, as my kids had put the mail in a drawer while Mr. Lex and I were on vacation 🙂
The Sunday Post #171 – Weekend Wrap-up
Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
This was another very busy week, as grades had to be entered into our system because it’s the end of the semester. This also meant I had to finish grading some more tests, and I have a blister on my right hand 😀
I did find some time to relax and read, too, thankfully. And my sinus infection is gone, so that’s another big win!

Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
Woohoo on the great haul. Close to the Edge and Tilted Earth look good. Oh yes, Iron Gold!!! Success getting the first Iron Druid. 🙂 That is funny about the kids misplacing your mail- I know how that feels. LOL
Ouch for the blister, but glad your infection is gone.
Hercules looks like he wants up with Freddy. 🙂
Have a good weekend, Lexxie!
I agree, Sophia! And Iron Gold *sighs* I’m gonna howl for sure 😉
Have a great weekend yourself 🙂
I always love to look at your book hauls Lexxie. Even if it makes me want to read more books. It’s dangerous for my TBR! Hehe. Enjoy these new books and have a fabulous weekend!
Yeah, some of those books have incredible covers, right? And I always end up adding more books to my TBR when I visit the weekend posts 🙂
Have a fabulous weekend yourself, Chrissi.

Iron Gold!!! I would also wonder if I should read that or keep it for a while, if I had it 🙂 I wonder if it will deliver? Sure hope so, of course.
And thank you for sharing my post! And wow, I didn’t know about those two great posts. It seems between me and Marie, we covered the blog hopping pretty well this week 😀 I’ll have to read and share those too, I think.
I sure hope it will deliver, Evelina! It’s hard sometimes when expectations are high, though.
You’re welcome. You and Marie pretty much covered everything when it comes to visiting and commenting other blogs this week 😉

Caffeinated loves Iron Gold, now if you like it I would now have to jump onto the band wagon
I loved the first three books in the series, Ailyn. And I just can’t decide if I’ll want to savor this one, or if I should jump right in… I’m pretty sure I’ll love it, if Kim did.
Twitter: ailynk
yeah i am aware that i would have to read from book one Q.Q
haha why not do both, jump right in and take it slooow hhah
But once I finish reading it – it’s over! Haha… And I’m pretty sure once I get started, I’m going to breeze through it to know what happens 🙂
Twitter: ailynk
there’s always a reread =d
Yay for no more sinus infection! I hope your busy week leaves you some time to relax as well. My mum is head of the primary school so I know how it can be when its time get grading or reports in… and it looks like you got many new books this week, so someone will have a lot reading to do. Enjoy it 😀
I know! Sinus infections are the devil 🙂
I got so many books. And that makes me so very happy.
The grading part is the least fun part of teaching – I mean, calculating the average of the different kinds of tests and all… But it does have to be done.
Thanks for stopping by, Olivia 🙂

Glad your sinus infection is gone! You got a lot of great books!! Enjoy! I know what you mean about waiting on an anticipated read. I read one of mine and loved it and I have to wait a whole year for the next one. 🙁 🙂
Have a great week and happy reading!
I know – waiting for a full year just won’t do, now, will it? At the same time, I really want to read it right now 😀 The dilemma of a bookworm.
OOh nice new reads!! Pretty much all new to me ones though I am familiar with Brown’s books! I hope you enjoy all the lovely new reads!
The puppies are too cute! Glad you’re feeling better too! That’s always a relief!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Pierce Brown is so good!
The puppies made us laugh so hard! With Freddy trying to hide on top of the crate, and Hercules doing his best to get him to come down 😀

Oooh, Iron Gold! I really need to read Morning Star now that the sequel is out. I was afraid to read it due to it being the last in the trilogy.
I hope you feel better, a sinus infection is no joke when it is cold outside. It sounds like grading sucks as much as test taking. I hope you enjoy all your new books and have a great week!
I’m the same way, Karen. I have some books that are the last in the series – released ages ago – that I haven’t read yet because I don’t want it to be over 😀
I do feel much better, and I am definitely happy about that. I hope you’ll feel better soon, too.
That looks like a great haul!!!! Man Card and The Heart Between Us look really good. Sounds like you are busy!! Love the puppy pic. Have a great week!
If Man Card is anywhere as funny and hot as Man Hands was, I’m going to be a very happy reader.
Really hope you enjoy all the books you listed! I’ll have to try Man Hands at some point FOR SURE! 😉 Have a wonderful weekend, Lexxie 😀
You do have to try Man Hands, Silvia. I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy it 😉
Great haul! Hope you have a great upcoming week. Happy Reading.
Thanks, Ali, you too!
I hope you love all the goodies. I am hoping to at least start the Red Rising series this year it’s past time!!!
Red Rising is one of my favorite series, Eve, it’s really well done! Thanks for stopping by.
Great haul!!!! I really need to start reading the Red Rising series.
Thanks Bogdana 🙂 I love even more people want to read Red Rising now!
Wow, so many lovely books! I’m curious about The Heart Between Us.
So sorry about the blister from grading papers!
Puppies are adorable, as usual. Enjoy the week…and thanks for visiting my blog.
Yeah, The Heart Between Us sounds so good.
The blister will disappear – it kind of made me laugh though… so many tests :O
Thanks for stopping by Laurel-Rain!
I’m very much interested in The Heart Between Us, I’ll have to give it a go as it’s the kind of read I’m in the mood for right now. Sarina Bowen has been highly praised (and I have a feeling you know by who… ;P), so that’s on my list as well!
It sounds really good, yeah? And I have a feeling I know who has highly praised Sarina Bowen 😉
The pups are so gorgeous in that photo! Iron Druid is one of the mamy series I’d like to get on audiobook. I’d like to get all my favourite series IF the narrators are good! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Thanks Chuckles!
Yeah, and Luke Daniels is the narrator I preferred when I listened to the snippets for Iron Druid. I have read a short story set in that universe, and it is really good.
Iron Druid looks fun! I keep having people tell me to read that series, so I may need to break down and do that soon! Rare Species and The Heart between Us looks pretty good too.
Hope you’re staying warm there. 🙂
Yeah, I read a short story in that universe a few years ago, and I really enjoyed it. Plus, Kim has breezed through the audios lately and loved them.
I’m mostly staying inside this weekend, so I’ll be nice, warm, and dry 😀
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Where Sea Meets Sky. I’m so behind on Karina Halle’s books. 🙁
She has so many books out, though! And I have enjoyed those I have read so far. I would like to read it before the end of February when I’ll see her at RARE, but if not, I’ll just bring it with me to get it signed anyway 🙂
This looks like quite the haul! I almost feel tired just looking at it… Enjoy!
Ha! I resemble that feeling, Nikki 🙂
Our semester ended as well. The flurry of grading is intense! But, you got some great books this week. Enjoy them!
I got some amazing books this week, now, I only need the time to dig in 🙂
Oooh! You got Iron Gold! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on that book!
I am just so unsure about what to do with Iron Gold. Dig in? Or just wait and know I have it? 😀
I love that you had some surprise extra Christmas presents hidden in a drawer. Guess your kids were just trying to extend the holiday. 🙂
LOL Nicole. You’re right! It was a nice surprise to find three packages and have new paperbacks inside.
Great haul this week! Most of these are new to me. I can’t wait to read Iron Gold! It seems like I have been waiting forever for that one. I hope to start the audiobooks for the Iron Druid series very soon. The puppies are still looking good. Glad you are feeling better. Have a great week!
I agree, Iron Gold is one of my most anticipated books for this year. And at the same time, I kind of don’t want to read it straight away 😀
If you’d like, we could try to buddy-listen to the first Iron Druid book 🙂 That could be fun – even if I normally only manage to listen to books in my car driving to work and back.
I would be open to that, Lexxie! I could even try to match my pace as close to yours as possible. Let me know when you would like to plan to listen to it 🙂
I just started Keystone today, but I’ll let you know when I reach the end – probably in a couple of weeks… unless I get so engrossed in the story I start to listen at home and not only in my car 😀
Just let me know a day or two before you want to start and I am game. I have heard so many great things about the series!
OK, I’ll do that 🙂

What a great haul Lexxie! I hope you enjoy all of your new books ?
And I am glad your Sinus is gone.
All the posts that you have shared are great. Gladly for he first time, I have read them all ?
I’m very glad, too, Sim! And so nice that you’ve clicked through to the posts I shared. I found them all to be well done and interesting.
Your new books look awesome, Lexxie. I hope you enjoy them and have a wonderful reading week. Poison Kisses is calling my name! ❤️???
I’m actually reading Poison Kisses right now, Geybie, and it’s good!
Your books look beautiful and AT LAST, you found them! I hope you enjoy Hammered as well. I remember I really liked the narrator, Luke Daniels as well as Iron Gold. I’ve been listening to Red Rising but the audiobook is messed up. The Iron Druid Chronicles is a series that I liked but that I don’t remember much about. It should be my next Top 10 Tuesday lol
LOL I know, right? Good thing I was looking for Hercules’ passport for the vet 😀
Luke Daniels is really good – I preferred his narration to the other edition, so I was very happy I found a workaround, jackie.
Thanks for stopping by!
wow many books for you this week. I hope you’ll enjoy them all. happy reading!
Yeah, almost too many… but just almost 😉
Aaah so many new books. Happy reading! Iron Gold is on my wishlist as well. I hope that I will be able to get it very soon too. And your dogs – so cute! Thanks for sharing. Glad you are well again.
Best wishes
Vi
I know! And they all look so very good. Thanks for stopping by, Vi!
Ooh, go many books on board for you at the moment– great haul! I read the first two in the Pierce Brown series awhile ago and look forward to continuing with book 3 so I can get to Iron Gold.
And the Kevin Hearne series, I can’t say why I haven’t gotten to it yet. So many good reviews and sounds right up my alley. Have a great week ahead.
Yeah, it was a very good week for adding books to my shelves, Kari.
I can’t say why I haven’t started the Iron Druid Chronicles, either. All my fellow PR/Fantasy fans love it.
Twitter: Mlsimmons
I’m so glad that you got your hands on Iron Druid with Luke Daniels. It will be worth the effort, I promise. It is a favorite series. I know it will be one of yours too. I hope you have a great week and that the blister heals. 🙂
Me, too, Melanie! I listened to both of the narrators and just found Luke’s voice to work better for me. But I could only get books 4-7 with him as the narrator 🙁 I’m pretty sure I’ll love it, and I’m very happy to have it ready to listen to! It’s going to be fun driving to work next week 😉
That is some mighty book haul during the week. I hope you are better now so that you can do all the reading you have now.
I know! So many gorgeous books. I am much better, I wish my job was to read books, though 😉
I see the Red Rising series EVERYWHERE I need to pick it up. A whole load of other books to add to my tbr GREAT it’s not like I already have too many (SEND HELP)!! I’m actually super busy with end of semester tests too so I feel you pain! My heart says books but my brain says STUDY. And omgggg your puppies are so cuteee <3!
If you enjoy futuristic in-space sci-fi, you should definitely pick up the Red Rising series, Iona!
I hope you’ll manage to stay focussed on your studies – it’s hard, but necessary.
I agree, my puppies are the cutest 😉
Glad to hear you are feeling better! I have been wanting to read Where Sea Meets Sky. I have had a lot of luck with Halle. I am a fan of the More Than books. McLean is one of my go-tos when I want something a little angsty.
Thanks, Sam! I love Halle. She’s such a good writer, always bringing out the feels.
I have never read McLean before, and now you made me want to dig right in 🙂
I am seeing everyone excited about the Iron Gold release and I haven’t even read the Red Rising series at all, haha. I hope you will enjoy it 😀
Glad to hear you are feeling better and that you still had some time to relax despite all of these grades! 🙂 I hope you’ll have a lovely week xx
If you enjoy sci-if, Red Rising is definitely a must-read, Marie 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
I get how you feel about Iron Gold. I was dying for it, and now don’t want to read it as I don’t want to finish it. Crazy, I know. I think I’m going to read Red Rising again. I’ve been wanting to start the series over and this gives me an excuse. LOL!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one, Tiffany!
What a haul! I am going to have to catch up with grades next week since I was basically out all week. It can get boggling grading!
I know, right? So many books.
Good luck with your grading this week, Charlie! It’s not the most fun part of being a teacher, that’s for sure!
That Pierce Brown series has been calling my name since book 1. I’m thinking it’s time I actually start it. Sounds like it’s been a crazy week! Your poor hand. I hope the blister is better soon. Love the pic of the pups. So much cuteness! Have a great week!
Oh my, I’m almost a bit jealous you can discover the whole Red Rising world from the beginning, Katherine!
The blister is OK, it made me laugh when it appeared, though.
My puppies are the best – and they always do so many weird things!
Love the Iron Druid Chronicle and can’t wait to read the next one coming soon. Luke Daniels’ performance is amazing! I listen to audio books while working out, too. Makes the time go by so quickly. Enjoy your books! 🙂
I’m really looking forward to delving in, Rachel. It’s my kind of series for sure.
Thanks for stopping by!
I’m glad to hear your sinus infection has gone – it’s so miserable! And hope you do get a bit more time to yourself once the grading is done – I love the look of Rare Species and am very jealous you have a copy of Iron Gold as I LOVE this series. Have a great week, Lexxie.
Thank you, Sarah! I’m pretty glad it’s over, too!
We have a week off in the middle of February, so even if I’ll be busy for a couple of more weeks, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I love the Red Rising series, too, so I had pre-ordered Iron Gold as soon as it was possible.
Enjoy your nice new books! And the puppies are too cute 😉
Thank you!
I am glad your sinus infection is gone. Hopefully that blister on your hand won’t last long. Your new books all sound so good! Close to the Edge sounds especially good. I hope you you have a great week, Lexxie!
I was very lucky with my haul last week, that’s for sure! I can’t wait to get started on all of them.
Happy to hear that you no longer have the sinus infection, those are terrible. Blisters are right up there with paper cuts… ouch. You have a lot of wonderful books this week, I hope you enjoy them all. I’ve been seeing Iron Gold everywhere with positive reviews. Have a wonderful day Lexxie 🙂
Thanks, Jovita!
I agree, blisters are no fun – and I’m quite used to getting them on my feet – but on my hand?!?
Iron Gold is going to be a blast. Once I give in and actually read it 🙂
Great book haul! I’ve had my eye on the new Lisa Renee Jones’ series. You Pup photo made me laugh – what were they up to? It looks like they were having a very serious discussion regarding that pet carrier 🙂
Lisa Renee Jones is such a good writer. And Her new series sounds really good.
Freddy was trying to get away from Hercules, so he climbed into the carrier on top… Hercules just wasn’t having it, though 😀
I’m glad you are feeling better. Any type of sickness/allergy is just the worst. Ooh sorry about the blister too; at least the grading is done for now! LOL Looks like you got some awesome books!
-Lauren
http://www.shootingstarsmag.net
I’m glad, too, Lauren! I think the temperature difference between vacation and home was too much for me. Thankfully, it didn’t last very long.
Yay for feeling better, Lexxie! And gah, I can only understand the pain teachers go through when grades need to be finalized–just last week, our head teacher had to send out a letter of apology to parents since they weren’t able to finish grading us on time. No harm done, though! Just take care of yourself. 😉
I was able to get it all done before my deadline, thank goodness! But sometimes, I feel like a procrastinate as much as my students do 😀
Love those adorable pups!
Take care of yourself and drink lots of tea.
🙂 Thanks Xyra!
You got some good looking books, wifey, both from publishers and as gifts. Someone must think you’re awfully special to send those gifts. 😉 😛 I’m glad you’re feeling better. James has another cold now and Sky thinks she’s getting sick, too. This cold/flu season has been rough! Anyway, I hope you enjoy all your new goodies! And have a great week!! {{{BIG HUGS}}} & lots of love <3
Yes, someone must love me very much to send me books from my wishlist like that 😉 Thanks again!
I hope James will get rid of cold quickly, and that Sky won’t get sick!
Have a great week yourself, wifey! Miss you! {{{HUGS}}}

That looks like a lot of good reading is going to be happening. I have read the Karina Halle one and I just bought Man Hands on audiobook. Glad to hear you liked it! Glad you are feeling better!
Did you enjoy the Halle book, Lorna? I have loved most of hers so far, and there are still quite a few I haven’t gotten to yet.
What a great haul. Hope you enjoy them. Poison Kisses was really good! Thankfulness stopping by Sunday Post and for your kind words.
I’m glad you enjoyed Poison Kisses, too! I read it this weekend, and I need the next one. Like, right now!
Thanks for stopping by, Jenea!
Man Card (& the first book) look fun!
For What It’s Worth
Man Hands was a lot of fun, Karen!
Twitter: Mollykatie112
Have you read her Love, in English or the sequel? This book is standalone but loosely attached to those as the male character’s sister is the heroine of those. I loved the book and gave it 4.5 stars. It totally made me want to go to New Zealand. My review is on GoodReads if you’re interested.
No, I haven’t read that yet, but I have it on my shelf 🙂 I’ll check out your review, Lorna.
yup these are busy days for teachers! I hope your blister heals soon 🙂 Iron Gold is one of my most anticipated releases too!
It’s all healed now, thank you Daniela 🙂
